1) Stability & Intended Use

·       Designed and tested for stability up to the per-platform weight limit listed on each product’s page.
If you can’t locate it, email [email protected].

·       Weight limits apply per platform and assume proper assembly on a level, stable surface. Exceeding these limits may cause instability or structural failure.

·       Even within the tested stability limits, dynamic forces—such as leaping or multi-cat play, uneven floors, accidental contact, children, infants, dogs, or other pets—can still cause tip-over.

·       All Mau furniture is designed for cat use only and is not designed or rated for human use or as toys for children or infants.

2) Securing Options (hardware not sold by Mau)

For added safety and stability, Mau recommends that all products taller than 20 inches be secured to a wall using a suitable third-party anti-tip device.
In homes with children, infants, dogs, or other large/active pets, wall anchoring is strongly recommended for all products, regardless of height.

Choose hardware based on your wall type (see recommendations here). We recommend drilling into studs or using heavy-duty drywall anchors rated for the load:

·       Furniture safety straps (nylon with metal buckles) to a stud or drywall with heavy-duty anchors.

·       Steel L-brackets into a stud, masonry, or other structural point on the unit.

·       Stud-mount kits (lag screws + washers) for drywall-over-studs.

·       Masonry anchors for brick or concrete walls.

·       Stabilizing pads under furniture feet (supportive only; not a substitute for an anti-tip device).

Important: Use load-rated hardware appropriate for your wall type.
Do not rely on adhesive-only fasteners.
If unsure, consult a qualified professional installer.

See additional guidance from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

3) Placement & Setup

·       Place on a level, stable surface; avoid thick rugs or uneven floors.

·       Corner placement is preferred for extra stability.

·       Avoid children’s rooms, play areas, and high-traffic paths.

·       Follow all assembly instructions carefully.

·       Use only original parts or Mau-approved replacements to ensure product safety.

4) Maintenance & Replacement

·       Inspect monthly (or more often in multi-pet homes) to ensure all fasteners are tight and the unit remains stable.

·       Check wall fixings regularly and ensure all anti-tip devices remain secure.

·       Replace wear-and-tear parts (e.g., cushions, baskets, scratching surfaces) when worn.

·       Discontinue use immediately if any instability, looseness, or damage is observed.

·       Only use Mau-approved replacement parts to maintain safety and warranty coverage.

·       Replacement parts can be found on each product page or on our replacement parts collection. If you can’t find the part you’re looking for, please contact [email protected].

5) Children / Infants, Dogs & Human Use

·       Children and infants must be supervised when near Mau products, especially when cats are climbing, jumping, or playing on or around them.

·       Children may climb, pull, or push furniture, and dogs or other pets may bump, jump on, or push it—these dynamic forces may cause tip-over even when properly assembled and placed on a level surface.

·       In homes with children, infants, dogs, or large/active pets, Mau strongly recommends securing all products to a wall using a stud-mounted anti-tip device or heavy-duty anchors appropriate for your wall type.

·       For cat use only. Do not allow humans to sit, climb, lean, or apply weight to Mau furniture.

6) Material Wear, Exposure, & Ingestion Safety

·       Some Mau products include textiles, cushion fillings, natural fibers (such as wicker or rattan), and other soft components that can become worn or exposed over time. Do not allow pets or children to chew, lick, ingest, or mouth loose fabric, fibers, foam, or small parts.

·       Inspect cushions, woven components, seams, and fasteners regularly.

·       If any fabric, fiber, foam, or wicker becomes loose, torn, frayed, punctured, or otherwise accessible:

o   Discontinue use immediately, and

o   Replace the affected part before resuming use.

·       Exposure or ingestion of loose fibers or components may pose a choking or internal injury hazard to cats, children, and infants.

·       Replacement parts are available through Mau; contact [email protected] if unsure which component is needed.
